MULTIMAX
PLUS

The MultiMAX Plus is characterised by its weight-optimised design with consistently high point load capacity. The variant with serrated floor grid covering throughout and a loading platform that can be lifted and lowered hydraulically to drive onto the gooseneck is the recognised benchmark when transporting lifting equipment

  • Manoeuvrable and compact
  • 2 to 4 axles
  • Low loading platform, 1x telescopically extendable
  • Plenty of lashing rings and lashing points
  • Available for lifting technology with double ramps or Flip-Tail ramp

THE GOOSENECKS AT A GLANCE

In terms of a semi low loader’s gooseneck, on the one hand it comes down to the design and on the other hand to the necessary fifth wheel load as well as the turning radius. All this is determined according to the tractor unit used, and the everyday projects for which the vehicle is expected to be employed.

OUTER BEAM NECK – AT

The "screwed neck technology" SNT gooseneck is based on an outerbeam construction, onto which all the elements of the gooseneck arebolted. This design makes it possible to offer an almost unlimited number of variants in terms of turning radius, length and shape. The compact design allows the optimisation of usable loading platform length. The gooseneck can be supplied with or without a rear chamfer.

  • Compact length
  • Large number of possible shapes and lengths
  • Technical fifth wheel loads from 12 to 30 tonnes
  • Overall gooseneck depths from 150 – 260 millimeters

THE LOADING PLATFORM AT A GLANCE

The loading platform in the MultiMAX series is always based on a central beam concept with sturdy outer panels. These are explicitly designed for high point loads and ultimate torsional rigidity.

THE BASICS

There is a choice between non-telescopically extendable and up to 3 times telescopically extendable versions. For transporting construction machinery, the loading platform can be equipped with extendable outriggers. The rear of the loading platform can be designed straight as well as chamfered, thus making it easier to load mobile construction equipment. The most extensive range of ramps of any low loader manufacturer is also available. The equipment is rounded off by various loading platform coverings: from wood and rubber floors, the serrated grid floor through to a steel covering throughout. To optimise the loading height further, MultiMAX vehicles can be equipped with an excavator trough and/or wheel recesses

  • Torsion-resistant design and heavy-duty central frame
  • Large variety of floor coverings, adapted to any type of application
  • Most extensive range of ramps of any manufacturer

THE EXTENDABLE LOADING PLATFORM

The majority of semi low loaders atFaymonville feature a single extendable loading platform. The extension offers enough flexibility in everyday operations to adapt to and overcome the different transport tasks. The telescopic extendibility also increases the vehicle’s resale value compared to non-extendable vehicles. Besides the single extendable versions, the MultiMAX series also provides loading platforms that can be telescopically extended by 2 or even 3 times. It is worth taking a look at the details here too: The extension’s locking mechanism is pneumatically activated and is fitted on the extension rods on both sides. Combined with the reinforced locking positions, an optimal transfer of the pulling forces is guaranteed even on the most powerful tractor units.

The area on the extension is generally set up with mountings for aluminium bridging elements. As an option, a wheel recess with corresponding chamfers can be implemented here.

If loading in the telescoping area makes additional supports necessary, several load-bearing sliding bolsters and bridging elements are available

CHAMFERED REAR

The chamfered design is the most widely used construction type for MultiMAX platforms. Stress in this area is particularly high during the loading of heavy machinery, requiring a robust design with reinforced outriggers. Rear supports are operated either mechanically or hydraulically for maximum safety.

STRAIGHT REAR

When emphasis is placed on maximum usable loading platform length, the best choice is a straight vehicle rear with no chamfer. This configuration allows for carriage of oversized cargo while still supporting drop-in aluminium ramps for easy access. It is the definitive choice for long industrial freight.

THE OUTRIGGERS

The outer frame of the semi low loader that is closed to the outside can be equipped with extendable outriggers. Depending on the application, Faymonville offers outriggers with a loadbearing capacity of 70 kN to 135 kN. The achievable width adjustment is 230 or 330 millimeters per side .

In turn, a “neat” appearance is restored when retracted. Deposits from stone or dirt are no problem compared to open outer frames.

THE WHEEL RECESSES

Wheel recesses between the axles are the ideal aid for reducing the loading height when transporting high wheeled machines. Yet not all wheel recesses are the same! At Faymonville, the design engineers pay attention to the details. As a result, not only are the wheel recess covers lightweight and highly durable, but they can also be widened. Depending on the vehicle design, the wheelrecess can be up to 410 millimeters deep. Vehicles with a low ground clearance, such as two-way excavators, sometimes need an intermediate height, however. The MultiMAX range also provides the right solution in these cases. And another small, but important detail by the way: all aluminium elements are equipped with an anti-theft device.

THE LOADING PLATFORM COVERINGS

Wooden planking

The area between and in front of the axles is fitted with a durable hardwood covering. This provides a reliable sliding friction coefficient of µ = 0.2 for general cargo. To handle increased point loading, the floor can be reinforced with a high-strength steel sheet cover for heavy industrial missions.

Steel floor

For extreme point loads, such as indoor cranes, Faymonville offers a continuous steel floor with load-bearing outer panels. Wheel loads of 12 tonnes are handled with ease, even for small wheels. For maximum safety, the loading platform features a high-grip sand finish to ensure firm security during transit.

Rubber covering

To reduce lashing requirements, the loading platform can be equipped with rubber elements. This achieves a sliding friction coefficient of µ = 0.7, meaning only 30% of the mass needs securing via external measures. It is an efficient, time-saving solution for high-frequency specialist transport missions.

Serrated grid covering

Smaller equipment like lifting platforms require maximum grip. Our serrated grid is the ideal solution, available across the entire platform width. This flooring is further reinforced with additional steel sheet to ensure higher point loading while providing the traction needed for low-clearance access gear.

THE BOGIES AT A GLANCE

Different options are available when choosing the bogie. To make the right decision, it is important to consider which tasks will be performed with the semi low loader and which route profiles will be managed.

THE DIFFERENT AXLE TYPES

While the wider Faymonville range offers various axle types, the MultiMAX Plus is specialised for ultimate performance. It comes exclusively with the KNUCKLE STEERING WITH HYDRAULIC SUSPENSION, a configuration specifically chosen to optimise the trailers expected field of application and cost/benefit calculation.

  • Proven and reliable technology
  • Different payload capacities
  • Maximum quality for the operational safety

KNUCKLE STEERING WITH HYDRAULIC SUSPENSION

For loads with a high centre of gravity or frequent rough terrain use, hydraulic axle suspension makes a massive difference. It provides superior support by preventing lateral movement and increasing stability. Nitrogen accumulators can also be engaged to provide a smooth ride for your long-distance jounrney's.

  • 300 millimeter suspension stroke
  • Steering angle up to 45 degrees
  • Choice of 17.5” or 19.5” tyres

THE STEERING

Steered axles are generally installed on all vehicle variants in the MultiMAX family. There are basically two different systems: the friction steered axles and the hydraulic force-steered axles.

  • Maximum precision even in the most difficult conditions
  • Safe vehicle guidance
  • Maximum quality for the operational safety

THE FRICTION-STEERED AXLES

This variant is used for transports where the requirements in terms of manoeuvrability of the low-loader are not very high. The steering movement of the axles is done by friction and needs no additional steering impulse. The steering angle of the axles ideally adapts to the turning circle when driving forwards. When driving inreverse, all steered axles are automatically locked.

  • Friction steered and leading steered axles available
  • Especially for combinations with a total length of less than 20 meters
  • Weight-optimised design
  • Low maintenance and reliable

THE HYDRAULIC FORCE STEERED AXLES

The hydraulic steering concept is based on a Faymonville in-house development. The system has been used reliably on thousands of low loaders for decades. Two hydraulic cylinders per steering system in the gooseneck are activated by the rotational movement of the tractor unit. This causes them to pump hydraulic oil to two other cylinders in the axle area. The result is a so-called “2-circuit steering system”, which keeps the low loader safely on track in all situations

  • Proven and successful for decades
  • Dual steering rods for maximum stability
  • Can be effortlessly self-steered by remote control, without manually changing control valves

THE RAMPS AT A GLANCE

For driving onto the loading platform, the Faymonville semi low loader range offers fully hydraulically operated single and double ramps with different load bearing capacities, several possible coverings and various widths.

THE SINGLE RAMPS

The most compact way of loading and unloading machines onto the semilow loader is to attach single ramps to the loading platform. This makes itpossible to drive machines on even when space is tight.

  • Possible load capacities: 40/60/80 tonnes of distributed load or 10/15/20 tonnes of wheel load
  • Standard length 3,075 millimeters
  • Standard widths 900 and 1,250 millimeters
  • Can be moved hydraulically
  • Not factored in when calculating the total length

THE DOUBLE RAMPS

Wheeled machines and tracked vehicles often only have a very low groundclearance. To keep the drive-on angle as low as possible due to a longerdriveway, one reverts to double ramps.

  • Possible load capacities: 40/60/80 tonnes of distributed load or 10/15/20 tonnes of wheel load
  • Standard lengths of 4,350 millimeters, 4,650 millimeters and 4,675 millimeters
  • Standard widths 900 and 1,260 millimeters
  • Can be moved hydraulically
  • Ramp tip hydraulically actuated

RAMP COVERINGS

Hardwood covering

This type with high-quality hardwood is particularly long-lasting and resilient. It is best suited for driving on heavy machinery such as caterpillars, excavators, ordrilling rigs.

Grid flooring

Ramps with grid flooringprovide an ideal grip fordriving on wheeled lifting equipment such as work platforms, telehandlers or fork-lift trucks.

Grip strip

In difficult conditions with humidity or snow, grip strips on the ramps create additional grip when driving on tracked vehicles.

Rubber cover

If the ramps are fitted with a rubber flooring, excellent friction value is achieved when driving up, ensuring a safe loading process.

Mixed coverings

For everyday projects with variable loads, a mixed ramp covering can be chosen. Here, the outside is fitted with grip strips and for the inside you have a choice of a rubber and wooden planking.
